Today, on the 29th of April 2024, the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Peradeniya embarked on a captivating journey of exploration and expression as we celebrated International Dance Day with a mesmerizing workshop led by Jyotsna Liyanaratne, Cie Souffle de danse, all the way from Nouvelle Aquitaine, France.
In this enchanting workshop, participants delved into the rich tapestry of tradition and creation, focusing on the art of dancing in circles, crafting intricate dancing mandalas, and uncovering the profound history of symbolic gestures in dance. It was a day of discovery, where the past intertwined with the present, creating moments of pure magic.
Behind the scenes, capturing the essence by the photographers Nalinda Jayasuriya and Viduranga Rathnayake from the Department of Fine Arts, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
A heartfelt thank you to all who joined us on this enchanting journey of dance and exploration. Let’s continue to dance together, weaving threads of tradition and creation, as we celebrate the universal language of movement and expression!
